Stage 1 check-in - Mario

(vision-only person-following robot, RDK X5 4GB)
Stage 1 done, board-only (my ROSMASTER M1 base is still shipping):

Bring-up: RDK OS 3.5.0 via RDK Studio on macOS -> SSH over the QuickLink USB-C gadget - Linux ubuntu 6.1.83 aarch64, Ubuntu 22.04.5. Tips for Mac users: the gadget has no DHCP (give your Mac a static 192.168.128.x), and HTTPS fails on first boot until NTP fixes the year-2000 clock.

Sensor (Challenge 2): no spare parts on hand, so pure sysfs - Python reads the DDR/CPU thermal sensors each tick while blinking the onboard ACT LED at 1 Hz (borrowed from the kernel heartbeat, restored on exit). Clip + script in the repo.

First AI (Challenge 3): YOLO11n detect from rdk_model_zoo on the BPU - bus.jpg -> bus 0.93 + 4× person, forward pass 13.1 ms (~76 FPS) on one BPU core. Lots of headroom for real-time person-following in Stages 2-3

Repo (flash notes, commands, all evidence):

Next up: mecanum base + camera -> camera -> YOLO (BPU) -> follow controller -> cmd_vel.
