cheap & cool, i order some
before I must test if the led work @ 9V without kill
I think yes
because there is a large resistor inside
it work a few mA and @ 9V if it's less than 10mA it's good for the led !
but for 24/7 low usage robots 5V is perfect, but for 1 very used robot a very fast charger is good
We can put only 1 fast charger for all robot, and all other charger @ 5V

yeah if the robot supports it it's nice.
the IP2312 charger which is on the vigiUPS is QC3.0 and supports 5V, 9V and 12V.

i do not know what happens if it receives 12V from the start without negotiation??

the limiting factor is often the Amperage, due to the wire and plug resistance.
when using a higher voltage the Amperage limit stays the same. this results in a much higher charge power

No problem.
This is not a step-up, it's a buck-boost converter

@fire_ned Yes 100% agree

:white_smiling_face:
i cannot find any higher voltage usb charger than 20V with 4.3A.
but our limit is the magnetic plug with a maximum of around 2.4A. that yields 48W.
that could work well for 4S or less. I'll probably try this on my next multicell robot.

A magnet can't go over 1.6A @ 5V because of VDROP "fake self protection" but with more voltage this limitation disapear (and you get instant burn :burn:). Also 1.6A is already out of spec for the 1A pogo on middle, if you run @ 2A + 20V for sure the connector :burn: :burn:
But this can take some time before the spark erode the pogopin @ 40 watts can work but not safe !!!
We must kill some magnet connector to find the maximum usable power before . lol the neodimium magnet are resistive and very subject to oxydation. this is why we add Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) coating
This coating is very thin and too mutch power kill it.
if the NiCuNi coating disapear the remaining Nd is very resistive ! contact point make spark and become very hot for sure :burn: !
On magnet cable the maximum of 5V 1.6A = 8W become 9V 3A = 27W this is already very high, but interesting to test, I suggest to not go over 9V for safe use !
Also we must try 12V on the geekworm v3; because the maximum current of the power supply never asked by the geekworm itself.

yes 12V sounds interesting.
yeah to reduce heat generation it's best to use higher voltage and lower amperage, because heat generation depends solely on amperage.

The Geekworm v3 work perfectly from 5V to 12V now power is no more a problem for vigibot
robot with higher voltage than 5V are easy to get reliable

how i get rid of the charge cable lights
(please note: all exposed metal parts on the cable, adapter and plugs can be under mains voltage, contact can be life threatening!)

PTDR JPP
But why you want to kill the led light ? they cool !
And support high voltage Power Delivery and QC2/3

i plan on using a (up to 15V) pd charger, magnetic cable with data pins, and a pd decoy module to get 15V to a robot to charge 3S.
all 15V pd chargers use type-c. standard usb (type-a) maximum seems to be 12V.
and there is no type-c magnetic cable.

i wonder if i could use a type-c OTG adapter?

there are BMS boards with UART for multicell battery monitoring. i wonder how difficult it would be to use them.
