Incredible.
Funny how nature do that.

Because you soldered it, the low resistance could cause a too high inrush current.

For all the lazy people that used Dupont wires like myself, the added resistance seems just enough to reduce this inrush current sufficiently.

Ooh, interesting... I have lots of resistor values, from 10 to 1M ohms, around what value would you recommend?

I'll test with 10 ohms

Maybe 0.05-0.5 Ohm.

Consider that, if the board has to be replaced, the soldering has to be repeated as well.

I soldered in 10 ohms and it turns on perfectly. I let it run for at least 10 minutes to see if I get any low voltage warnings. I don't think I have resistors of thar low value though

50x resistors in parallel ;)

Or a thin cable and calculate the resistance https://www.omnicalc...wire-resistance

lol... Maybe I'll try a thing wire coiled up next. Although the low voltage and turn-on problems are fixed with 10 ohms, when I turn it off, all of the servos freak out for about half a second. I suspect that it powers the transistor for the power distribution board just long enough to have power, but no valid signal

Hmm, still no luck with lots of cheap chinese jumper wires... I'll try to find a lower value capacitor.

I found a better solution: I connected the transistor to the 3v3 pin. Absolutely no servo movement while powering off. Thanks for the help, @fire_ned ! :3

Wow, 140 C in a few seconds, that could probably melt cables... Is that UPS from WallE?

I had something similar with my charger for 18650-type batteries. There was a chip that got really hot-I don't know exactly how hot-but it was hot enough to burn a finger.

Here's the board, I guess this is typical for it.

I tested this one and it works but not " great " it only use 5v input and get hot quickly with charging current at around 1A or less.

So my choice wasn't ideal when I bought it.

But in my opinion, it handled charging the batteries perfectly well.

That's a perfectly fine charger if you don't plan to keep it on 24/7.
