I think I remember getting some undecipherable errors, some module was incompatible with the pi5 maybe.

I just realized that the pi5 doesn't even have a headphone jack, which I rely heavily on for my robot projects. I just lost all interest in trying to make this platform work. I'm going back to the pi4 and pi3. If anyone wants to continue, there's the clientrobotpi file above. This one is going back into the box until I decide to make it into a NAS or router.

I solder directly to the analog headphone output for my robots to keep them as tiny as possible. I already have to plug in the microphone diagonally from a mobile stick to fit comfortably. There are just too many incompatibilities, this was not the only thing that discouraged me, but this was the last straw.

we support ld06 by default and rplidar A1 / rplidar A2 when updating the lidars.hpp config ( comment the ld06 part and uncomment rplidar part) ... + if no imu is used you should comment the #define imu in main.hpp and perform ./make.sh . I understand that all these tasks are already done... We may double check if this particular rplidar is supported ( for example the current code does not support rplidar C1 ...) and check if something else is not missing...

Anyone have suggestions for a problem with power failures crashing the pi?

Info:
VigiUPS v2 with the 8-10A Pololu step-up.
Minus on WLAN works.
When i power the 4G stick from 5V, then:
Servo movement and driving crashes the pi.
Servo and motors are powered from Vbat.

Added 3300uF to 5V, servo doesn't crash it, but driving still does. 3'300 is already quite big, a 10'000uF might not be the correct way, but i could try it.
Charger plugged and unplugged doesn't seem to make any difference.

Can you confirm that servo are powered with vbat and not 5v ?

Are you sure that it is not a battery problem ?
If both ups solder bridges are set on VBAT, the power supply for servo and motors is directly VBat ... If the battery can't provide enough current the whole battery voltage will drop and then if it drops too much the step up can't do a lot ...

Try to check if the main battery voltage drop, or if it is just the raspberry pi 5V dropping ...
You can also check if the "robot eyes " ( IR leds ) are correctly set, no consumming too much ...

First easy thing you can do to reduce issues : add rampup and down on servos and wheels to smooth the motors mouvements and prevent shakings ...

Thanks. I'll check some voltages and report back.

The LED potentiometer is already set to the lowest strength.

Is that a custom made battery? I remember using a really weak 1A BMS on my first attempt at making a 1s2p battery, and having constant crashes when trying to use the bot. It just shut off when it detected too much current. Then I cut off the BMS and used a stronger one with the same cells, and everything worked fine. It might be worth a shot to test with a known good battery.
Correction: it was 3A. Still, too weak
These ones work fine

Good idea
Hm
Pi's power led often turned off, which it does on voltages below.... some value like 4,5V?
(Which really it shouldn't with a 8A step-up...)

Which means it had trouble even when it worked, probably not the PCM.
I remember Pierre had difficulties with a low Amperage PCM too. I don't know if that's the same battery pack. I'll note it down and check.
Vigibot need a raspberry pi to work :)
