Sure, do you have any relays by any chance?

Did the button have multiple functions?

How many wires are in the cable?

Can you measure if any of the wires for the button have a voltage? How much?
Ok.
2.4V ok. The positive is probably connected to an input of an IC with a pull-up resistor to either 3.3V or Vbat. Because your DMM has a resistance too, it can lower the reading.

If you touch the wires together it beeps, correct?
On the wires you measured the voltage between GND and the positive wire. :white_heavy_check_mark:

Now, Can you measure the voltage between the positive wire and Vbat? It will tell us whether the positive wire is connected to Vbat (reads about 0.5V) or 3.3V (reads 0.0V).
it's a little trick, i hope it works :fingers_crossed:

If it's 3.3V you can connect it to the Pi without damaging the Pi.
If it's Vbat then you will need a transitor (BJT, FET) or relais.

I gotta sleep now.

Hm that's... Something's not right.

Because 2.4V + 3.15V is more than Vbat, it can't be.

GND, SDA, SCL to the same named pins.
Vcc to 3.3V.

Do you already know how to use the INA power pins V+ and V-?
Oh no wait
The INA measures current so all the current has to go through it. There's a low Ohm "shunt resistor" on it, over which it can measure the small voltage drop and with it the current.

So the INA V+, V- have to go inline with the load like this:

(Later some vigi website config changes are required.)

@HyperS to enable the current bar on the website you'll have to adjust the config.
Find the correct spot and insert
```,
{
"NAME": "Current",
"INIT": 0,
"SCALEMIN": -3,
"SCALEMAX": 3,
"MIN": -3,
"MAX": 3,
"SIGNED": true,
"NBDIGITS": 3,
"UNIT": " A"
}
```

Make sure the comma `,` is there too.

You have a misconception.

The INA module has only a shunt resistor between V+ and V-. If you connect them to Vbat+ and Vbat-, you create a short circuit. The Battery over current protection kicks in and disconnects the battery.

Do you understand? INA V+ and V- are a very low Ohm resistance.
You are using the INA as if you want to measure Voltage. But it's designed to measure Current, which has to be connected in-line with the load, not + to -.
No

Vin+ and Vin- are a current meter ONLY.
From the electricity's point of view, the INA Vin+ to Vin- are a (nearly) direct connection. Like a wire. (Almost) no resistance.

If you connect the battery you short the battery.
This image shows how measuring voltage and current has to be done differently.
Ok, what you wrote is not wrong. apologies i missed it.
Hmm how can i explain it..
Can you identify all of these pins?:

Battery
Vbat+
Vbat-

UPS
[UPS]Vbat+
[UPS]Vbat-
Like this?
Not quite ;)

And don't worry, i remember how 15 years ago i blew up a current meter by connecting it to a bettery + and -. I mean i made the exact same mistake. My meter made *bang* xD
Wait you don't have an UPS. i forgot.
Where does you battery + go to? Do you have a photo?
That's awesome B)

If you only want voltage then connect:

Vin+ -> Vbat+
Vcc -> 3.3V
SDA -> SDA
SCL -> SCL

Vin- is not connected.

Oof, that looks painful. How did that happen?
Yeah, I can see traces that are lifted up from the PCB, I don't think repair shops would agree to fix that amount of damage
Destroying things is part of the DIY learning process, don't worry about it. I destroyed plenty of various boards by my own mistake, wiring things backwards or dropping stuff. I don't think this is "the end", you still have all your other components. But if you decide to quit, you can convert your WPL back to factory settings and have a cool little RC truck :D

Damn, sorry that happened to you.

It sucks, i too broke expensive stuff before like my main 500 $ camera and other.

Or a multimeter i bought, literally the first time i used it: BANG

I don't know what I'd do if i were you :/

@Mike118 Can you sponsor @HyperS With a raspberry pi 3 or zero2w? He's a high schooler learning robotics with a bright future :)
I'm sure he'll bring great publicity to vigibot

I can maybe do something yes. But let me some time to figure out what I will do exactly. @HyperS send me your adresse in private.

the ribbon cable is in the correct slot, but just to be sure we can we double check that the ribbon cable is inserted in the correct orientation in both end ... Just in case.
