Support for another ups fuel gauge https://discord.com/...96069795106838. We should add it in next update.

With vigiUPS v1 and v2

Symptom:
When the battery runs empty, the electronics turn on and off repeatedly up to ~2x per second.

For «WalterJakob» vigiUPS v1:
clicking noise, LEDs turn on and off. Sometimes a servo moves with a click.

For «Lucky» vigiUPS v2:
The motor turned on clicks until i added a low-voltage cutoff.

Problem:
1) Battery voltage drops under load to 2.4V -> the 18650 PCM cuts off.
2) Battery voltage recovers to ~2.8V -> the PCM turns on.
3) this repeats for 5-20 min.

possible solutions:
1) low voltage cutoff at 3V with release voltage of 3.5V. (lithium take damage when below 3V.)

2) if power is lost once, the electronics should not turn on again automatically.

@Mike118 Low voltage cutoffs need a big switch hysteresis, especially at ~~low voltages and~~ "high load" to "open voltage" change:

Observed something strange with the geekworm ups v3.
Can someone check if i made a mistake?:

Short: UPS turns off sporadically because its poweroff pin is connected to GPIO 6 (pull-up on boot) !?!?

Long:
Expected: hold push button for 3s to turn UPS on or off. With "auto-ups" switch: off.

Problem: UPS turns off during boot or after up to 1h.

UPS poweroff pin (pull-down 100k, Active high) has a solder bridge to either GPIO 6 or 13.
Default bridge: GPIO 6.

.
The UPS poweroff pin is pulled down and pulled up at the same time.

Sporadically it will be HIGH long enough to turn off the UPS.

I removed the solder bridge on AluBot and it has not turned off anymore since.

Can this be true,
Bad design choice from geekworm,
Can someone confirm?
Who else has a geekworm v3 @Garfield2142 @Serveurperso ?

I am not using it and I don't have it in stock to test it.

I'd have some thoughts for a vigiUPS v3, maybe it's helpful :)

-fix low voltage on-off loop (discussed above).
-no fan necessary.
-3.3V active buzzer onboard.
-sturdy on off through hole (or similar) switch or push button (not SMD, it breaks off too easily).
-breakout only 10-15 gpio servo connectors would be sufficient (instead every gpio).
(-might not work: onboard LED at the front for driving?)
(-a single LED (or rotating warning light) at the rear-side, that can be configured to PWM blink to show when someone is controlling the robot.)

-in my opinion it's ok if it costs more than the geekworm v3 or vigiUPS v2. Probably not more than 40EUR.

I'm willing to pay more for a reliable UPS that has most of the things I use for my robot. It would be awesome if an audio chip was included there as well.

I am working on a better ups board but I was not thinking about adding the audio chip in it... i was considering to make a dedicated board for that. I plan to replace all 3d printed plates on minus robots by dedicated pcbs.

A top pcb with leds and audio chip and a small screen.
A pcb for the ups with pins to connect servos and other stuff.
A middle pcb for the motor driver and mounting the pololu motors on it...

Today I had access to an oscilloscope, so I connected my robot's 5v and ground to see how much the voltage fluctuates. This is with the Power Pack Pro UPS. https://wiki.geekwor.../Power_Pack_Pro
